If It Ain’t About The Money: 2 Chainz Hit W/ $1.5 Million Suit
Def Jam’s 2 Chainz has reportedly been hit with a $1.5 million lawsuit over his alleged breach of contract dating back to 2013.
According to reports, Rockmo Entertainment paid Chainz $60,000 to perform at an Atlanta venue in May 2013 and claims he broke the contact.
As a condition for the paid performance, it is alleged that 2 Chainz (real name Tauheed Epps), was forbidden from marketing and/or performing in Atlanta two weeks before or after the May, 11, 2013 Rockmo Entertainment event. The lawsuit states it only took the T.R.U. University cartel hours to renege on the agreement, as they reportedly performed at The Mansion Elan for local radio station Hot 107.9 on the same night.  Attorney Jerry R. Caldwell provided more context behind the suit, which asks for $1.5 million in compensatory and punitive damages, via a statement.
““Mr. Epps and his team blatantly violated a very basic obligation of my client’s agreement,” Caldwell says in a statement. “Rockmo Entertainment fulfilled all of its contractual obligations including, but not limited to, paying 2 Chainz $60,000. As a result of all of the Defendants’ bad faith and willful disregard for 2 Chainz’s contractual obligations with Rockmo Entertainment, my client has suffered extreme financial damages and irreparable harm to its professional representation. At the end of the day, everyone made money at the expense of my client.” (HHW)
Although he could not pin down an exact date, Chainz recently said a new LP could arrivewithin the next 12 months.
“I should have an album coming out this year. I’ll be switching into Titty Boi mode and really going hard on my project. When it comes to my work you’re going to expect a concept, you’re going to expect a storyline, expect bars and beats and everything else that comes with 2 Chainz. Right now and as far as 2014, I was really focusing on surrounding myself with a comfortable team for the youth and experience that could keep me alive and popping while giving me some longevity. I’m starting to feel like the beginning of that. Now, I can revert back to Titty Boi and being me again, 2 Chainz, Titty Boi the only child. Really going in and giving fans something to be proud of.” (HHDX)
Chainz revealed his next solo album would arrive sometime this year on social media in December.
