Known to pals as Yoghurt, Rob was Head Coach of the of the Rugby Lions and had played for Coventry Rugby Club, as well as Shirley RFC in New Zealand. A well-liked and highly-regarded rugby coach has died after being hit by a giant wave while on holiday in France.
Rob Walton, who was head coach of the Rugby Lions, died on Monday after suffering whiplash and a broken spine in the freak accident, according to French authorities.
The former Coventry Rugby Club player, a father-of-four, was on holiday with his wife and children at the time.

He was hit by a huge wave while swimming at a supervised beach in Labenne, in the Landes region of Aquitaine, south-western France.

French authorities were notified of the incident, which occurred at around 2pm, by another swimmer.

Emergency services tried to revive Mr Walton but were unable to save him.
