Insiders say producers fear ratings could plunge without will.i.am, 40, and are preparing to make him an incredible multi-million pound offer.
Yesterday a TV insider said: “They will do whatever it takes to rescue the show.
“If will.i.am quits it would be total disaster.
“The Voice has scored great ratings, so the BBC will be keen to hold on to what makes it special.
“Viewers saw Tom as a steady hand and showbiz veteran who knew exactly what he was talking about.
“And although Will doesn’t have much in common with him, producers will be waving a lot of money around to get him to stay.”
The show hit the headlines on Friday after Sir Tom was ditched for Boy George, 54.
Paloma Faith has also joined the new panel, replacing Rita Ora, 24, who is now a judge on the upcoming series of X Factor.
