Real Madrid edge out Man City as the most expensive football squad on earth

Spanish giants Real Madrid have edged out Manchester City to become the most expensively assembled football squad on the planet. Analysis published from the Football Observatory in Switzerland shows that the 10-time European champions are currently the most expensively assembled squad among the big guns in global football.

Manchester rivals, City and United, are placed in second and third place while Premier League champions Chelsea are fifth, followed by Liverpool (7th) and Arsenal (9th), confirming the Premier League’s status as the big spenders in Europe.
